On Thursday 2 August, 2018 an Amber Alert was issued in Washington, USA, after a Chinese child was taken by an Asian woman and vanished from Reagan National Airport.

Just outside the country’s capital, a tour group from China were just about to board a plane when, at 8:15 am, 12-year-old Ma Jinjing, described as 4′ 11” and weighing 90 lbs with black hair, was abducted.

In a public statement police said, “She is believed to have left the airport with an unknown middle-aged female, she did have her passport with her… At some point the child stated she wanted to use the restroom, it wasn’t until they were starting to check through security that another child notified the chaperones that she was missing.

“As far as we can tell, she never made it to the restroom and it was at that time she left the airport. The child appears to have left without any force. She was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans and a black jacket.”

The girl was last seen leaving the airport via arrivals with an asian female, described as 5’2” – 5’5” and weighing 130 lbs, with black hair and wearing a black dress. While the child was walking with the woman, the child may have put on another piece of clothing.

Authorities believe before the incident occurred, the asian woman was seen with a male subject, and that a male subject was driving the vehicle in which the child left, a white Infinity brand vehicle with New York number plates.

“It’s really important that the community recognises that at this point the child may be in danger.

We are really trying to get our community to help us with this… We don’t know the circumstances as to why the child left with the asian female”, police said. “We have no reason to believe that the child should have left with these people.”

A witness stated he may have seen Ma meet and receive food from the female suspect when the tour group was in New York City, according to the FBI, Fox News reports.

The tour group, which had included Jinjing, had been in American since 26 July and were on their way to the West Coast before eventually heading back to China.

Virginian authorities issued the Amber Alert emergency response system that disseminates information about a missing person, soon after the child went missing from the airport.

Police have said that the Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority Police is working closely with the FBI’s Office of Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force. They are at this time trying to make contact with the guardians back in China.
