According to a WeChat article compiled from Suzhou Urban Management, Civilised Suzhou and PSA Suzhou (苏州发布), the city has been steadily dressing itself for the occasion in both visible and invisible ways. The visible part is easy to spot. The invisible part is more interesting; civic discipline, service polish and that quietly-exhausting business known as being a good host.
