This day, 7 July, 2012, the first Tsinghua University “World Peace Forum” was held in Beijing. Attended by China’s then Vice President Xi Jinping and former Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama, together with the former leaders of many other countries, the day was also the 75th anniversary of the Marco Polo Bridge Incident, regarded by many to be the true start of World War II.
