June of 2023 heralded another first for China; the launch of the country’s first largest-scale cruise ship entirely domestically built. And in our very own Jiangsu, we played a key role in its construction, with shipbuilding a specialty of Zhenjiang City.
2023 年 6 月,中国迎来了又一个第一;该国第一艘完全国产的最大型游轮下水。而在我们江苏,我们在建设中发挥了关键作用,造船是镇江市的特色。
It was on 6 June that the Adora Magic City was launched from the No.2 dock of the Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipyard. At 323.60 metres in length and 135,500 gross tonnes, the Adora Magic City is capable of carrying 5,246 passengers.
6月6日,阿多拉魔幻城号在上海外高桥造船厂二号码头下水。阿多拉魔幻城号长 323.60 米,总吨位 135,500 吨,可承载 5,246 名乘客。
The vessel is at present undergoing the process of mooring tests, sea trial, naming and ultimately delivery, to its customer, CSSC Carnival Cruise Shipping.
该船目前正在进行系泊测试、海试、命名以及最终交付给其客户中船嘉年华邮轮的过程。
As Cruise Industry News reports, Chen Ranfeng, Managing Director of CSSC, said, “We are thrilled to announce the name of our first Chinese-built large cruise ship. Adora Magic City is not just a cruise ship, but a captivating experience that presents the best of Chinese hospitality and global cruising practice. We can’t wait to share this unforgettable journey with our guests”.
据邮轮行业新闻报道,中船集团董事总经理陈冉峰表示:“我们很高兴宣布第一艘中国建造的大型邮轮的命名。阿多拉魔城号不仅仅是一艘邮轮,更是一次迷人的体验,展现了中国最好的待客之道和全球邮轮实践。我们迫不及待地想与客人分享这段难忘的旅程。”
But it may have never happened were it not for Zhenjiang’s shipbuilding industry.
但如果没有镇江的造船业,这可能永远不会发生。
The challenge was that in order to control the weight, cruise ships are typically thin-plate ships. In the case of the Adora Magic City, 80 percent of the entire ship employs plates with a thickness of 4 to 8 millimetres. However, such thin plates become easily deformed during the construction process.
挑战在于,为了控制重量,游轮通常都是薄板船。以阿多拉魔城号为例,全船80%的面积采用了厚度为4至8毫米的板材。然而,这种薄板在施工过程中很容易变形。
Taking on the technical difficulties presented by a project with such national significance was the scientific research team of the Marine Equipment Research Institute of Jiangsu University of Science and Technology.
承担如此重大国家级项目技术难点的是江苏科技大学海洋装备研究所科研团队。
Invited to participate in technical research, the team put more than 2 years in to developing that termed “high-quality electromagnetic induction leveling equipment”, as Our Jiangsu reports.
据《江苏报》报道,该团队受邀参与技术攻关,历时两年多研发出“高品质电磁感应平地设备”。
Intensely proud of their achievement in solving the problem, Professor Gu Jiayang, Dean of the Jiangke Marine Decoration Institute, said, “Our thin-plate orthopedic technology and equipment… not only solve the existing problems of domestic cruise ships, but also have good prospects for promotion and application”.
江科船舶装饰研究院院长顾家阳教授对解决这一问题感到非常自豪,他说:“我们的薄板矫形技术和设备……不仅解决了国内邮轮现有的问题,而且具有良好的推广应用前景。”
Zhenjiang was undoubtedly the right choice for the job. The City’s shipbuilding history can be traced back to long ago; it had already become an important shipbuilding base in the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties. With Zhenjiang Shipyard founded in 1951 as the first shipbuilding enterprise in Jiangsu, in Zhenjiang, all things maritime have become a simple tradition.
镇江无疑是这份工作的正确选择。这座城市的造船历史可以追溯到很久以前。魏晋南北朝时已成为重要的造船基地。镇江造船厂始建于1951年,是江苏第一家造船企业,在镇江,一切海事已成为一种朴素的传统。
