Some 20 local residents are invited to take a trial ride on the extension of Metro Line 2 in Suzhou today. They boarded at Baodai Bridge Station and took a ride to Moon Bay Station and Sangtian Island Station.

The interior décor of all new stations, including facilities and sign boards, has been completed. The highest ticket price will rise to 8 yuan (US$1.34) from the current 4 yuan as the route of Metro Line 2 will run 13.4 kilometers further once the extended sections are put in operation. The route of Line 2, now in an ‘L’ shape, will connect districts of Xiangcheng, Gusu and Wuzhong and Suzhou Industrial Park once the extension is launched.

During the trial operation, the first train at Qihe Station and Sangtian Island Station will start at 6am while the last train at the two stations will depart at 10:10pm and 10:20pm respectively. A single trip from Qihe Station to Sangtian Island Station will take 74 minutes. The service capacity will be up to 11,549 passengers per hour.
