The weather temperature was over 34 degrees centigrade with the road surface temperature reaching more than 40 degrees centigrade in Zhenjiang on July 14. In such hot weather, however, Cao Qiaojiang, a 55-year-old traffic policeman, voluntarily asked for performing duty on such road surface with his physical examination report shown to support his request.
Dressed in long clothes and trousers and carrying a full set of police equipment, Cao Qiaojiang stood in the middle of the street with no shade for one hour at noon when it was the hottest. Cao became a traffic policeman when he was just more than ten years old, and has worked on the road surface for more than 30 years. Considering his age, his superior has arranged the morning shift and nightfall shift for him, but Cao resolutely refused to accept this. He also produced his recent physical examination report to prove that he is still enjoying very good health.
The traffic policeman’s hard work touched the hearts of the Zhenjiang residents who passed by. The residents interviewed said that traffic policemen’s work is really painstaking, and hoped that pedestrians and vehicles can strictly observe traffic regulations so as not to add trouble for the traffic police.
