Beset by his own Internet addiction, a Senior Three high school student in Nantong used a kitchen knife to chop off his left hand. It was found that his broken hand was still left on the scene after he was sent to hospital. Upon receiving the call for help on the early morning of Jan 31, Nantong Municipal Public Security Bureau immediately searched for and found the broken hand, and sent it to hospital.

Now the left hand has been successfully replanted, but whether it can survive or not depends on the recovery condition. Wang Liang (alias), a Senior Three student in Nantong city, often played truant to surf the Internet, according to sources. His teacher asked again his parent who came to pick him up to pay more attention in this regard late on the afternoon of Jan 30.

Wang Liang took a kitchen knife and left home at about 10 o’clock on the night, and left a note in his room, telling his parents not to worry and that he would be home after he went to hospital. Unexpectedly, Wang Liang, who felt guilty, chopped off his left hand in order to show his determination to quit the Internet addiction.
