The first direct freight train from Suzhou to Europe departed from Suzhou Western Railway Station of Shanghai Railway Bureau on Sept 29.

The train by the name of “Su-meng-ou” (Suzhou-Mongolia-Europe) features the 43 train formation and is capable of carrying large containers of 40 feet. The whole journey covers 11,200 km for about 15 days, traveling through Russia, Austria, Czech Republic, Poland and other countries. It is “five scheduled train”, which means its starting and finishing stations, route, time, freight and price are scheduled.

Compared with traditional sea transportation, the railway route saves two thirds of delivery time, opening a new safe, efficient and convenient logistic channel for the goods exported from Suzhou and enterprises of South Jiangsu to Europe.
