On this Day in Chinese History; 21 October

This day, 21 October, in 1995, at the invitation of United Nations Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali, President Jiang Zemin attended the special meeting commemorating the 50th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations in New York and delivered a speech entitled, “Let’s Work Together to Create a Better World”. It was the first such time that a Chinese head of state had done so.
