This day, 3 May, in 1946, the International Military Tribunal for the Far East convened in Tokyo. Lasting 2 and a half years, its verdict revealed the crimes of Japanese imperialism in planning, preparing and launching atrocities on China, as well as the wider Asia-Pacific region. Of 25 convicted, seven were sentenced to the death penalty.
