This day, 3 January, in 2022, China, Britain, France, Russia and the United States jointly issued the “Joint Statement of the Leaders of the Five Nuclear-Weapon States on Preventing Nuclear War and Avoiding Arms Races”. This was the first time that the five NPT-designated, nuclear-weapon states have jointly spoken out on the issue of nuclear weapons at the highest level.
