This day, 19 July in 2008, the Beijing Metro opened three lines, namely Line 8, Line 10 and the Capital Airport Express, setting a record for the highest number of lines opened in the same city on the same day. As part of the City’s preparations for the hosting of the 2008 Olympics, Line 8 would also serve the Games’ three main venues; the National Stadium, Water Cube and National Indoor Stadium.
