In the eyes of ordinary people, zongzi (glutinous rice stuffed with different fillings), rice dumplings, rice cake and glutinous rice are delicious memories. Nanjing’s Mr. Zongzi endows these foods with a taste of happy life.
Spring roll symbolizes people’s good wishes for the year. In Mr. Zongzi’s home, spring roll is more artistic and is similar to “rice paper.” Mr. Zongzi dipped sesame sauce as the “ink” and wrote the two Chinese characters “Spring” and “Roll” on the spring roll.
Mr. Zongzi’s name is Chen Zhengyin. He used to be a worker at Jiangbei Hospital. Now, he teaches food techniques to children.
Chen said that he plans to paint Nanjing’s elements including “48 attractions of Jinling”, landmark buildings and “Twelve beauties of Jinling” on the food to create an amazing combination between good food and beautiful scenes.
