Watching performances, experiencing folk customs, solving lantern riddles and having local snacks – this is how Wuxi’s Heping village spent the Lantern Festival in 2016, the Year of the Monkey.

About 100 foreign tourists and residents in Wuxi from more than 20 countries joined the villagers in this festive gala.

The 1,000-meter-long street was decorated with all kinds of color lamps, lantern riddles, New Year paintings and other ornaments, and a large variety of performances were prepared for the audience.

American man Terris is a PE teacher at the International School in Wuxi New Area. He has worked in Wuxi for six years and he took his two daughters to the gala to feel the authentic local flavor of Lantern Festival. Italian boy Thomas is an engineer and he and his friends played the spinning top and solved lantern riddles.
