A car suddenly pulled over near the entrance ramp from Xinyi-Yangzhou Expressway to Beijing-Shanghai Expressway on Jan 12. The driver, changed into a sports suit, started to do physical exercises in the emergency lane like nobody was watching. After the aerobics was done, he changed out of the sports suit and drove the car away.
The driver was later stopped by the traffic police at the toll station between Jiangsu and Shandong provinces, and fined with 200 yuan (around $32) plus 6-point penalty.
According to the surveillance video, the man started with leg pressing on the guardrail, followed by side lunges, abdominal exercise, knee joint exercise, and back exercise. The aerobics routine was so well-executed and smooth. After it, he also hopped on the traffic lane twice before returning to the car and drove away.
The whole exercise took four minutes. The driver, surnamed Zhang, said later that he drove from Yangzhou to Shandong on a travel. When he drove to the entrance ramp, he felt very tired from long driving and stopped the car for a rest and some stretches.
