First ‘photovoltaic village’ in China generates 430,000 kWH

The first roof-connected “photovoltaic village” — Qingnan Village located in Qinghu Town, Donghai County, Lianyungang City has generated 431,800 kWH and realized a gross income of 339,600 yuan (US$54,820) by Jan 15 since it was connected into the grid and put into operation on the same day of 2014.

As a key demonstration project for poverty alleviation carried out by Jiangsu Economic and Information Technology Commission to promote the photovoltaic technology to the country and industrial application, the roof-distributed photovoltaic power generation project of Qingnan Community has an installed capacity of 381.22 kWH and involves 129 households.

Each household was installed with 12 solar photovoltaic panels on the roof. Besides satisfying their own electricity demand, villagers use the residual electricity for Internet connection.
