A man surnamed Shen of South Korean nationality and who was suspected of embezzlement came to China and turned himself in to Nanjing police on Dec 15.

Shen was general manager of a Nanjing-based South Korean enterprise from January 2009 to September 2011, during which he embezzled nearly 800,000 yuan ($129,157.25) corporate fund by tampering with financial statements. When the Korean headquarters demanded the Nanjing company to provide financial materials in October 2011, Shen was nowhere to be found.

The Economic Crime Investigation Team of Nanjing Public Security Bureau opened a file of Shen’s suspected embezzlement on April 17, 2012 and has carried out multiple visits and investigations since then. Based on the patient reasoning and persuasion of the Nanjing police, Shen came back to China from South Korea on Dec 15 and turned himself in.

In the “Fox Hunt 2014” campaign organized by the Ministry of Public Security targeting economic crime suspects fleeing abroad, Nanjing police had successfully captured and brought back 11 suspects from six countries and regions including the U.S., Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Macao and South Korea as of Dec16, ranking among the top in the province.
