This day, 13 February, in 1939, five Indian physicians dispatched to aid China during the Second Sino-Japanese War arrived in Yan’an after a long journey, to be personally received by Mao Zedong. Among them was Dwarakanath Shantaram Kotnis, who would die in China in 1942. His mausoleum is located in the Martyr’s Memorial park in Shijiazhuang, capital city of Hebei Province.
