This day, 13 November, in 1989, Deng Xiaoping was meeting with a delegation from the Japan-China Economic Association, when he said, “Cooperation between our two countries must be sustained for a long time. Our policy of friendship between China and Japan will not change. I hope Japan will reflect on itself and not be arrogant; China needs to strengthen itself and not feel inferior. Only in this way can friendship and cooperation be eternal.
