This day, 15 October, in 1979, Deng Xiaoping met with a delegation of British celebrities led by Felix Green and accepted a television interview, in which he said, “We hope that a few years from now, not too long into the next century, as a socialist and relatively wealthy China, we can fulfill our international obligations to mankind, especially the third world, that are consistent with our identity”.
