Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge; a source of great pride for the Chinese people as the first bridge across the Yangtze built without foreign assistance. Completed in 1968 after almost nine years of construction, this fine example of Chinese engineering is best accessed via the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge Park on the southern bank. Take in the decidedly Maoist vista that comprises the bridge museum and then ascend to the deck of the bridge by elevator to have that obligitory photo taken. Soberingly, the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge is also the world’s No.1 suicide location with more than 2,000 known suicides.
