Video Competition

To submit your video to the “Eyes on China International Short Video Competition”, simply use an online file-transfer service, such as We Transfer, or a cloud-based host, such as Baidu Cloud, to send your entry to thenanjinger@sinoconnexion.com. Please ensure to include your name, the title of your video and a short description. You may also like to refer to this news story announcing the competition for additional background information. The closing date for the competition is 20 November, 2018.

Upon receipt of your video, we will send you a confirmation email. This is not an automated process; please allow time. By uploading your video, you agree to the terms and conditions of the competition, as detailed below.

Video Competition Terms & Conditions

By submitting an entry to the organiser, you represent and warrant to the organiser that your submitted entry does not contain content that is in violation of, or infringes upon, any Intellectual Property Rights of any third party (including, but not limited to, copyrights, trademarks, trade names, trade secrets, logos, and rights of publicity. Your entry, in its entirety or in part, may be posted and used by the organiser and/or the Nanjing Municipal Government, in their sole and absolute discression, on websites, social media channels and through other video formats. All entrants retain the copyright of their work for all other uses.

Winning videos will be covered by seven media outlets under the China International Publishing Group (CIPG) in 10 languages, including CIPG Digital Media Center; China.org.cn; Beijing Review; China Pictorial; China Today; People’s China; and China Report and platforms collaborating with the organisers.

Five different categories have been allocated for which video entries will be sorted into: 

  • Discovering China from Outside its Borders 
  • Experiencing China and its Development 
  • My Favourite Chinese City or Cities 
  • Stories of Me and The Chinese People
  • Foreigners in China. 

Individuals, groups, companies or organisations are all eligible. Formats may include talk shows, news and reports to features and documentaries. All languages are accepted. English subtitles or dubbing is required for all entries.

Videos must be real and vivid and give a positive description of China. The following are prohibited:

  • Pornographic content
  • Violence 
  • Religious or racial discrimination 
  • Any commercial content that promotes a product, a service or any other commercial activity

Video resolution should be 1280*720 or above. Video formats should be MPG, MPEG, AVI, MOV, WMV, or MP4.

Each category will selected five finalists who will all win US$800.

The top three finalists from each category will be invited to Beijing for the award ceremony and a 5-day trip in China, (food, accommodation and a round-trip-ticket will be sponsored by the organisers).

During the award ceremony, honorary certificates and trophies and will be given out and all will be in the running for the ï¿¥34,000 grand prize.

The winning group or individual will have the chance to sign up with organisers to work together on future projects.

The winning group or individual will also have the chance of being recruited by any of the 20-plus media companies under the China International Publishing Group, specialising in new media.
