The 2016 Nanjing International Plum Blossom Festival was launched on Feb 16.

The favorable climate has put forward the blooming this year. The temperature will rise in the following days, creating beneficial environment for plum blossoms and extending the blooming period. And flowers in the bud stage will not bloom so soon.

“Theft will happen frequently during the festival, and cameras and mobile phones may be the targets. The Plum Blossom Hill and the Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum have large areas with a lot of footpaths, where children and the aged may easily get lost,” said Gao Haining, deputy director of the police station of Dr Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum, based on past experience.

Dozens of tits with red head and long tail flew to the Gulin Park on Feb 16.

“This is the smallest bird in China and is actually rare in Nanjing. As it is very timid, the bird will fly away once it notices that human beings are approaching,” said Mr Wu who likes taking photos of birds.
