Jiangsu stands first on the list in scale and comprehensive competitiveness, according to the report on regional competitiveness of equipment manufacturing industry in China released by the Research Institute for Engineering Industry Information on Nov 20.
The equipment manufacturing industry includes manufacturing of metal products, electricity, automobile and railway, vessel, aerospace, transport and communication facilities, etc., and the full-caliber statistics also includes manufacturing for electronic equipment such as computers.
At present, the shipbuilding industry in Jiangsu accounts for 10 percent in the world and 1/3 nationwide in terms of its market share.
