The first intercity CRH6 (China Railway High-speed) train which can travel at speeds up to 200 kilometers per hour came off the assembly line at CSR Nanjing Puzhen Co., Ltd. on the morning of May 6. The first CRH6 intercity train will be put into service in Pearl River Delta region.
CRH6 train is the first intercity CRH train in China, which has a seating capacity of 557, and a full loading capacity of 1,488, approximately twice that of other CRH trains with same speed level and form mode, and slightly larger than the transport capacity of B-type subway train. Also, the new CRH6 train boasts a higher running speed and a more comfortable travel condition than subway train.
“Because of the high performance of traction and brake, the train can start and stop moving quickly and frequently. The performance of traction and brake is close to subway train with one driving carriage and one traction carriage. And the CRH train has an ability of rescue and running with faults comparable to subway train,” said Zeng Yaozheng, chief designer of CRH6 train.
According to introduction, in order to meet the needs of heavy traffic on intercity lines and the characteristic of fast access, CRH6 intercity train has doors opened on both sides and broad passageway. And the designing team systematically planned out the number of doors and opening duration using width controlling concept. When passengers on board exceed the full loading capacity, the train opens the door only on one side to allow passengers get off or on the train within 30 seconds.
