A large bus station will be built to the southwest of the Youth Olympic Village, which also functions as the energy center. The project has been made public by Nanjing Urban Planning Bureau before approval. The project is expected to be finished by the end of 2013, and will go into service for the Youth Olympic Games in 2014 directly.
Project of Hexi Riverbank Youth Park Bus Station and supporting facilities is located in Jianye District of Nanjing, to the southwest of the under-construction Youth Olympic Village. The project, covering an area of 6,867.61 square meters, enjoys a dynamic and sporty exterior implying “taking off”, which absorbs sports elements of the Youth Olympic Games.
The bus station is an complex of multiple functional roles — the terminals of the bus, battery charging-and-changing station for electric buses, commercial center and energy center. According to introduction, the open space on the first floor of this four-storey building will be used as the terminal of the bus, and the batter charging-and-changing station for electric buses; supporting facilities will be placed on the second floor; while third and fourth floor of the building are used as energy center.
This multifunctional bus station will provide energy for projects such as athletes village, the YOG Park, and YOG conference center, etc.
Neighborhood of major YOG stadiums and the YOG village will be fully covered by clean-energy buses, said the city government of Nanjing. The battery-charging and battery-changing station built to supplement the YOG energy center, will solve the battery-charging problem for buses running in the neighborhood of the stadiums.
