Hechi grows more silkworm cocoons than any other prefecture-level city in China, has 65 percent of its land covered by karst and produced 1.016 million tonnes of fruit in 2024. Its highest mountain is called Nameless Peak.

Karst covers 21,800 square kilometres of Hechi, 65.06 percent of its area and 24.34 percent of Guangxi’s karst, the most of any Guangxi city, according to the Hechi government. Nameless Peak, in Dongxing Town in Huanjiang Maonan Autonomous County, is 1,693 metres high and is the highest mountain in Hechi, according to the same source.

The city has 53 minerals and 534 deposits, and its advantage minerals are tin, lead, zinc and antimony, according to the same source.

Hechi’s mulberry area and cocoon output have ranked first among China’s prefecture-level cities for 20 years, and its cocoon and silk processing capacity for 15 years, according to the city’s 2025 government work report. Late to the Railway

The Guiyang–Nanning high-speed line opened in full on 31 August 2023, ending Hechi’s time without a high-speed railway, and the fastest trains take about an hour from Nanning to Hechi West, according to the Nandan government. Hechi now has four high-speed stations, according to the same source.
