Worried about being caught for drunk driving his boss’ car and crashing it into three trees and a river, a man in Yangzhou thought a bath would be just the ticket to avoid detection. While his boss assisted in the endeavour, it would all be to no avail.
扬州一名男子担心酒后驾驶老板的车撞上三棵树和一条河而被抓，他认为洗澡只是避免被发现的门票。虽然他的老板协助了他的努力，但这一切都无济于事。
At around 03:00 on 14 July in Yangzhuang Village of Chenji Town in Yangzhou’s Yizheng City, a jeep knocked down the trees at the side of the road and careered into a small river. Very quickly, the man driving it abandoned the car and went ashore.
7月14日凌晨3点左右，扬州仪征市陈集镇杨庄村，一辆吉普车撞倒路边树木，冲入小河。 很快，驾驶该车的男子就弃车上岸了。
Upon arriving at the scene, police from the Yizheng’s Dayi Traffic Police Squad found that the off-road vehicle was almost completed submerged, despite bing considerably taller than an ordinary saloon. Its occupant(s) had escaped, the Yangtze Evening News reports.
仪征市大邑交警大队民警赶到现场后发现，这辆越野车虽然比普通轿车高不少，但几乎完全被淹没。据《扬子晚报》报道，车内人员已逃走。
Investigations led police to discover a man surnamed Yang had been driving the jeep at the time of the accident. Yang initially maintained to police that driving in the dark made him careless for a while, mistakenly using the accelerator as the brake. Hence the accident.
警方调查发现，事故发生时驾驶吉普车的是一名杨姓男子。杨先生最初向警方坚称，在黑暗中开车时，他一时不小心，误将油门当刹车使用。于是就有了这次事故。
Yang also claimed to have not drunk alcohol beforehand, yet he blocked an on-site, breath-alcohol test with his tongue.
杨还声称事前没有喝酒，但他用舌头挡住了现场呼气酒精测试。
After repeated reminders by police, Yang breathed normally, producing a test result of 103mg/100ml. Warning him that he was suspected of driving a motor vehicle while under the influence, Yang was then taken to hospital to have his blood drawn for testing.
经民警多次提醒，杨某呼吸正常，检测结果为103毫克/100毫升。警告其涉嫌酒后驾驶机动车，杨某随后被送往医院抽血化验。
When Yang eventually came clean, it transpired that he had dinner with friends that evening and arranged for them to rest in his office after they had been drinking. But Yang quietly drove off in his boss’ jeep.
当杨最终坦白时，得知他当天晚上与朋友共进晚餐，并安排他们喝完酒后在他的办公室休息。但杨却悄悄地开着老板的吉普车离开了。
Escaping the car in the river, Yang stood on the roof and called his boss for help. Their collusion saw the two not call the police, but instead go to a nearby bathhouse to take a shower, eventually contacting the authorities some 2 hours after the accident, presumably thinking the affects of alcohol on Yang had sufficiently abated.
杨某从河里逃出汽车后，站在屋顶上向老板求助。两人串通一气，没有报警，而是去附近的澡堂洗澡，最终在事故发生约两小时后联系了当局，大概是认为杨的酒精影响已经充分减轻。
Despite their trickery, Yang is being prosecuted by public security organs for dangerous and drunk driving. Yangzhou traffic police remind that drunk driving is an extremely irresponsible behaviour endangering the lives of oneself and others.
尽管他们的欺骗，杨某仍因危险驾驶、醉酒驾驶罪被公安机关起诉。扬州交警提醒，酒后驾车是一种危害自己和他人生命安全的极其不负责任的行为。
