This day, 16 April, in 1992, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army’s Military Engineering Brigade arrived in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, to participate in United Nations’ peacekeeping operations. The 400-strong brigade repaired Highways 4 and 6, which were severely damaged by war, so as to ensure the safe passage of convoys carrying United Nations’ relief supplies.
