This day, 5 November, in 1991, a high-level Vietnamese delegation paid an official visit to China, leading to the issue of a joint communiqué announcing the normalisation of relations between the two countries. Both sides agreed that in the future, China and Vietnam should develop good-neighbourly and friendly relations on the basis of the “Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence”.
