A low-cost smart express item locker developed by five students majoring in automation at College of Information Engineering of Yangzhou University was officially launched on Oct 28. This smart express item locker has the functions of similar products in the market, but its cost is only one third of those of such products. An unattended express delivery site is no longer a dream.
The “express supermarket” is a cabinet which is similar to the supermarket locker. The difference is that it is used to store express items, and is of different sizes so as to increase space utilization. ”Our smart express item locker is controlled by the chip invented by us. The cost of manufacturing a locker is about 1/10 of the market cost, the price is more acceptable by manufacturers, and it is easier to promote.” Guo Zhibo, teacher in charge of the project, told the reporter.
Mo Xiaoyu, a member of the project team, told the reporter that in addition to being cheap and highly stable, an express item locker may also protect consumers’ privacy and personal safety. After a smart express item locker is used, the delivery address of a consumer is the address of the smart express item locker instead of the consumer’s home address, which protects consumer privacy.
