The opening ceremony of the 7th Gaochun International Slow City Lotus Festival was held by Hengxi River at Zhuanqiang town a few days ago. Tourists may take gaily-painted pleasure boats, as well as the Wupeng boats which are launched for the first time in Gaochun, to watch lotus flowers at a close distance during the Lotus Festival this year.
The government of Zhuanqiang town has connected such water systems as Hengxi River, Zhuanqiang River and Maocheng River by building bridges and sluice gates, etc., and adopted a re-circulating aquaculture mode in recent years. It has planted water plants, with lotus flowers as dominance, to protect and repair the ecological water environment, and deployed water plants of different themes based on the water levels and heterogeneity of different water areas.
