“The First Target” starts shooting in Nanjing

“The First Target”, a movie based on the story of Zhou Enlai, the first Premier of China got under way in Nanjing, capital of China’s Jiangsu province on May 8. A starting ceremony, attended by the director, cast and crew, was held at Memorial of Meiyuan New Village, Nanjing.

The movie tells a story of Zhou Enlai, as head of the delegation of the Communist Party of China, negotiated with Kuomintang and the U.S. at Meiyuan New Village, Nanjing in 1946, striving for democracy and peace without civil war. The story will be represented in a thrilling mystery style.

As the story took place during the period of the Republic of China (1912-1949), the ingredients of that time would be widely used in the film. Some of the scenes will be shot at the historic buildings and centenary Nanjing W. Railway Station remained in the city, showing the “Republican China Style”. As a leading role of the film, Jiang Qinqin, a renowned Chinese actress has been filming at Nanjing 1912 district, one of the typical historic building blocks while the starting ceremony began.
