A designer from Nanjing won Red Dot: Best of the Best Award 2016, according to an announcement at a ceremony held at Porcelain Tower Heritage Park in Nanjing on Dec 16 to mark the 1st anniversary of its opening to the public. The designer’s artwork is a tea set with the design inspirations coming from the Porcelain Tower.

Considered as one of the most prestigious global design awards – the Oscar of the design world, the Red Dot award has a history of over 60 years.

Ma Cong, designer of the tea set, introduced that the tea set combining traditional Chinese culture with many kinds of intangible cultural heritages including the crafts of ceramics, lacquer-ware, stone-carving and carpentry, has five functions, namely tea set, tea pitcher, ink stone, incense ware and storage box.
