A male student in Nanjing Normal University (NNU) wrote in the library’s comment sheet that it was hard for him to keep his eyes on the book because of those scantily clad girls.

His comment soon became a hot topic at Weibo, a Twitter-like micro-blogging platform in China.

“The summer is approaching, but my mood for study has been severely disturbed by those over-exposed girls in the library. I would be deeply grateful if the library could formulate some regulations on girl’s dress code so that boys like me could focus on study again.” The above comment was written by a student from the College of Fine Arts of the Nanjing Normal University on March 21. The library responded with “Take it easy!” on March 24.

According to the library, the reply was not written by any of the staff, so it might be a hoax by students. But the event has triggered heated comments on the internet.

Many netizens, especially male students in other Nanjing-based universities joked, “I’ve decided to study hard in NNU’s library”, “Why us students in Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications don’t have the eye feast like the boys have in NNU?” and “Students in Hohai University request permission to study in NNU’s library!”
