Customers enjoy nice food with a robot band singing and dancing in high spirits – this is a daily reality in the robot show restaurant of the Zhangjiagang Traders Hotel.

The hotel’s robo-staff is a serious step up from the more basic robo-waiter in a Zhenjiang hotpot restaurant who was making waves online in February.

At the Traders Hotel, you will find a variety of well-equipped robot waitresses, chefs and science teachers, along with a huge lineup of a robot band. As a five-star hotel, the Zhangjiagang Traders Hotel is the first one to introduce robots in Zhangjiagang. First group of more than 20 robots were employed, and the themed restaurant has been receiving at most 150 guests per day since it was opened over two months ago, said Sun Yanwen, general manager of the hotel.

Since the beginning of 2014, the hotel has made joint efforts with Intelligent Robot Research Institute at Harbin Institute of Technology to research and develop the upgraded intelligent restaurant themed by robot science and robot shows. Statistics shows that cook and service robots have saved 30 percent to 40 percent of labor costs than before.

The restaurant introduced special robots for the promotion of science, who can answer 100 questions about knowledge of the universe. The robot band is comprised of seven robots that would dance to the music through intelligent operations and stage nine live performances.
