Jiangsu is suffering from an extraordinarily high incidence of influenzas, according to Jiangsu Provincial Center for Disease Prevention and Control on Jan 7.

Among the 60,000-plus patients in 29 hospitals monitored by the center, 4.5 percent to 5 percent were infected with flus, higher than the average level of the previous three years.

Roughly 36 percent of patients were tested positive for flu, flat to the nationwide level. In the confirmed cases, A/H3N2 virus-infected patients took up 77 percent and A/H1N1, 17 percent. Besides, the incidence of pneumonia was also rising.

The flu outbreak remained flat to the previous years in north China while southern provinces such as Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Guangdong recorded a higher rate.
