The “bridge life watcher volunteer” Chen Si has persisted in patrolling bridges and saved 251 would-be suicides over the past decade. A recent report from a Nanjing newspaper encouraged more and more people to take part in this life-saving campaign.
72-year-old Xu Qiluan is a “veteran” volunteer who strongly supports this activity. She signed up for this project, hoping to make contributions in her post-retirement days and help those who want to commit suicide live a peaceful life.
Students in two classes majoring in social work from the College of Law and Administrative Management, Nanjing University of Technology, are deeply touched by Chen Si and the other volunteers. Collectively they participated in this activity, hoping to help those potential suicides with their professional knowledge.
More than 50 people have signed up for the volunteer project so far.
