Nantong University is going to work with the 138-year-old Jackson State University of the United States for the joint establishment of the Confucius Institute.
The institute is expected to open a new window for young peopleof Mississippi to learn Mandarin and understand the history and culture of Nantong and China.
Jackson State University was founded in 1877. It is located in the capital city Jackson of the state of Mississippi. The university is the only comprehensive university located in Jackson.
Early in 2011, NTU and Jackson State University signed cooperation agreement. During the past five years, a number of student and teacher exchange and overseas training programs have been conducted between the two universities. Dr. Thomas Calhoun, Vice Chancellor of Jackson State University, paid a visit to NTU from November 19 to 23 this year.During the visit, the two sides officially signed the Letter of intent to build the Confucius Institute.
