The selection of torchbearers for the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games (YOG) kicked off on the morning of June 9. Among the 100 torchbearers, 30 will be picked from social applicants, announced the Organizing Committee of Nanjing YOG.
The torchbearers will be mainly composed of those between 15 to 18 years old. Twenty of the torchbearers will come from middle school in Nanjing, 20 of them from outstanding athletes, young ambassadors, volunteers and YOG staff, 30 from YOG sponsors, and 30 from social applicants.
Only those influential individuals who have outstanding achievement and highlights for publicity and having participated in YOG virtual torch relay are eligible to apply to be a torch bearer.
