Nanjing will add 1,500 new energy buses before the Youth Olympic Games (YOG), and a series of measures will be taken to ensure safe and smooth traffic in Nanjing.

Bus lanes stretching over 20 kilometers will be laid down in the downtown area including the Hanzhongmen Street, Qingliangmen Street and so forth in addition to the existing sections that connect Zhongyangmen, Xinjiekou and Andemen along the Zhongyang Road, Zhongshan Road and Zhongshan South Road from north to south.

A series of intelligent transport systems are in improvement. By the end of this year, the “My Bus” app will include all the buses and cars in the city. And movies and games will also be available in this system as it upgrades.

Intelligent bus stops have been put in pilot use in the city’s western main street. The new 39 stops are equipped with LED and LCD screens showing information about upcoming buses. The intelligent stops also provide free WI-FI.
