A young man in Nanjing swallowed an 18-centimeter-long skewer in anger a month ago because of a family conflict. Fortunately, the stick directly slipped into his stomach without piercing it. He only felt stomachache when eating.
The 23-year-old Li Le (alias) returned home with his girlfriend during the Spring Festival. However, his relationship was strongly opposed by his parents. He was upset and drunk at a barbecue stall on the street that night. He got so angry while drinking, he suddenly stuck a skewer in his throat. He never thought the sharp object would slip right into his stomach.
Li didn’t feel uncomfortable until a few days later. But he refused to see a doctor for he was still angry with the parents.
A month later, he was carried by the parents to the hospital. After the gastroscopy, his stomach was not injured and had no other symptoms. The doctor used a snare to catch the one end of the needle and slowly pulled it out of the stomach. Five minutes later, Li was recovered and left the hospital.
