Punishment on drivers who change lanes illegally in tunnels will be severer in Nanjing.
A total of 39 drivers were found to change lanes illegally in tunnels on April 18 who faced a fine of 100 yuan (US$ 16.13) with three scores deducted from a total of twelve scores in driving license.
According to traffic law, the driving licenses for those who has zero score will be confiscated and can only be re-obtained after their holders pass the re-examinations.
There are many tunnels in Nanjing. The traffic control department will install electronic eyes in the tunnels to capture vehicle’s illegal lane-changing scenes.
Driver’s illegal lane-changing might cause safety hazard. Generally, it is not allowed to change lanes in tunnels except when traffic accidents happened.
