A mermaid porcelain pot, which is over one thousand years old, is now on display in Yangzhou Museum, our reporter learned on Feb 23.

The “Ding Klin Mermaid Pot” is from the Liao Dynasty. The upper part of the pot is in the shape ofa young girl of theKhitan tribe and the body of the pot is a mermaid. The tail of the mermaid is strong, with clear scales. In front of the chest of the pot, there is a dragon head, which is the orifice. In the back, there is a lotus, which is the lid. A crank is used to connect the head and the rear tail. The crank is also the handle of the pot.

Fu Ning, deputy dean of Inner Mongolia Museum, said that this pot is a representative Liao Dynasty cultural relic and it is held in Inner Mongolia Museum. This time, the pot is on display at Yangzhou Museum, along with other Liao Dynasty cultural relics.
