Jiangsu has launched the “Technical assistance project of air quality management”, a China-US joint campaign, in hopes to rein in haze pollution and improve air quality in Jiangsu within three years, said the Environmental Protection Department of Jiangsu Province on April 14.

According to the authority, the air pollution — compound pollution — in Jiangsu is similar to that of the US years ago.

In light of the experience of the US, Jiangsu is able to improve the air quality greatly through the efforts for decades or longer. It is said that the US will evaluate the air pollution in several pilot cities such as Nanjing, Suzhou as well as Changzhou, sort and analyze the data of recent PM2.5 and its precursor such as sulfate, nitrate, organic carbon, etc. Besides, it will analyze the annual and daily averages of PM2.5, and estimate the contribution of PM2.5 from pollution sources in pilot cities and other places.
