Jiangsu to boost cooperation with Congo

Li Xueyong, governor of east China’s Jiangsu Province met with Denis Sassou Nguesso, President of Republic of Congo and his delegation in Yangzhou on the evening of June 16, 2014.

The delegation headed by Sassou is made up of 100 delegates including the first lady and the cabnet minister. Li expressed his warm welcome to the delegation for the visit of Jiangsu.

He said the year of 2014 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the Republic of Congo. Jiangsu will implement the consensuses reached by leaders of both countries in last March.

As an important coastal province in east China, Jiangsu values the communication and cooperation with African countries including Republic of Congo, supports more enterprises to invest in Congo, and encourages more diverse culture and people-to-people exchanges. Sassou conveyed his gratitude for the cordial reception.

He said his hometown Oyo city in Congo intended to develop a friendly relation with Yangzhou and expected a closer tie between people in these two cities.

The Republic of Congo is abundant in resources and is going to set up special economic zones. Sassou welcomes Jiangsu com panies to take part in the resource exploitation and development of special economic zones in Congo.
