Jiangsu ranks second in provincial economic competitiveness

Chinese Academy of Social Sciences released the Blue Book of Provincial Overall Competitiveness of China in Beijing on Feb 28, with Guangdong, Jiangsu and Shanghai ranking the top three. Compared with the list of 2010, eight provinces saw their position moved up, and Jiangxi which dropped five places became the province declined most in competitiveness.

From 2010 to 2011, the overall economic competitiveness scores of 2/3 provinces were in a downward trend, while 1/3 provinces saw an upward momentum.

Central and western regions rose the most in the scores, reflecting that overall economic competitiveness of western provinces improved faster then national average. The gap between east and west regions has been gradually narrowing.
