Nanjing has issued regulations to guide quality basic health care resources to new urban areas and areas with weak resources. The new extension of large general hospitals and specialized hospitals in old town is strictly prohibited.
Nanjing Chest Hospital and Nanjing No 2 Hospital are located in densely populated areas. The infectious disease areas of the two hospitals have become repeated complaints of the public over years. Moving these areas was put on the agenda years ago. According to the regulations, functions including the hepatitis and AIDS of Nanjing No 2 Hospital, tuberculosis of Nanjing Chest Hospital, leprosy of Nanjing Occupational Disease Prevention Hospital and the public health emergency response of Nanshan Hospital will move to the less-populated Qinglongshan hospital area in Tangshan, Jiangning. Nanjing will build a large infectious diseases hospital as well as major infectious disease public health emergency center in Qinglongshan.
