High-tech “weapons” are adopted by the police of Nanjing Metro as they tightened up security during the lantern show at the Lantern Festival.
“Bomb jammer” is a shielding and deception device against explosives. It will be used for the lantern show for the first time on the night of the Lantern Festival. Such device is the most advanced shielding device used by the subway police at present.
After a suspicious explosive is detected, “bomb jammer” is turned on and can shield the 2G, 3G or 4G mobile phone signals or such wireless signals as Bluetooth and infrared signals to prevent criminals from using remote control devices to detonate explosives.
The subway police also equipped policemen with 85 ID card identification devices which are based on China Mobile’s 4G network early this year. The cell phone-like device can read a second-generation ID card within 1 second. The information produced by such a device is compared with the police’s database, and may instantly show whether the suspicious person is at large, has criminal records or is subject to control.
