A young woman who jumped into the Qinhuai River from the Pingjiang Bridge at Nanjing’s Confucius Temple was rescued by a foreign man on August 17th. A passing-by barge later assisted in bringing both individuals to safety.

At least ten meters below the Pingjiang Bridge, Qinhuai River is very wide with many torrents. After the woman fell from the Eastern side of the bridge, a well-built, foreign man immediately dove into the river to rescue the woman, pulling her onto a passing boat with the assistance of her companion.

After reaching the boat the foreigner patted the woman’s back in attempt to awake her. When the boat arrived at the wharf he left the scene quietly.

The 22 year old woman attempted to commit suicide due to relationship issues, according to policemen of Nanjing’s Confucius Temple. After the woman was rescued her mood was stabilized. She did not encounter any injuries.

She wishes to thank the foreigner who bravely rescued her. The police also hope that with the assistance of social media they will be able to find and thank the “Foreign Lei Feng”.
